FIELD NOTES // 033 - NON-NEGOTIABLE

I used to think fitness changed because I became more motivated.
It didn't.
Everything changed the day it became non-negotiable.

Before that, every workout was a conversation.
Do I feel like it today? Am I too tired? Can I make it tomorrow instead? Maybe work is too busy. Maybe one day won't matter.
Every reason sounded reasonable.
Until I realized I was asking the wrong question.

The people who stay aren't the ones with the easiest schedule. They aren't the ones who live the closest. They aren't the ones with the fewest responsibilities.
I've watched people drive farther. Work longer. Raise kids. Build businesses. Still show up.
I've watched people with every advantage disappear.
For a long time I thought circumstances decided who stayed.
Now I think circumstances only reveal the decision that was already made.

The drive is real.
The exhaustion is real.
Life is real.
None of those things disappear.
They just stop getting a vote.
